His name is Arjun, 14 years old although he looks no older than 10. He is carrying a 30kg bag of rice. His horse is carrying 2 of them. I offered Arjun a packet of chocolate cookies which he promptly wedged between the rice bag and his back. He said he would have them with tea later. It was heart-breaking to come across porters like Arjun who carried impossibly heavy loads up the mountain paths of Nepal.
All proceeds from the sale of this (and all other artwork) will be donated to help the poor people of Nepal. Thank you!
I am an avid traveller and a self-confessed shutterbug with no formal training in photography. I prefer using a point and shoot camera for convenience. I also like to keep photoshopping to a minimum so my photographs are realistic. Regardless, I hope you enjoy viewing them. I am based in Ontario, Canada. Update: since the pandemic I have curtailed my travels. I hope to resume starting in 2023. In the meantime and since retiring end of 2019, I have been enjoying the great outdoors, spending time with family, reading, playing the piano, and trying my hand at poetry.
